VOLUNTEERS

Come help us make the 2010 CenterFest Arts Festival a success this September 18th and 19th!

Over 300 volunteers are needed for the weekend. To sign up just fill out the Volunteer Form here.

Volunteer Shifts:

You may volunteer for as many shifts as you like. Shifts for each day are as follows:

  • Saturday
    • 6:00am-8:00am
    • 7:45am-9:45am
    • 9:30am-11:30am
    • 11:15am-1:15pm
    • 1:00pm-3:00pm
    • 2:45pm-4:45pm
    • 4:30pm-6:30pm
  • Sunday
    • 9:00am-11:00am
    • 10:45am-12:45pm
    • 12:30pm-2:30pm
    • 2:15pm-4:15pm
    • 4:00pm-6:30pm

There are many volunteer positions, each requiring different skills and levels of commitment. Below is a list of the volunteer jobs available and their brief descriptions.

Block Captains

All-day shifts only

Experienced CenterFest volunteers who would like to oversee the smooth running of a region of the event. They are each given a designated area in which they are the main point person for artists, vendors, non-profits and the public if there are any problems or questions.

Kids Zone

Engage your hands and your heart with the free-spirited creativity of youngsters as they get busy with a variety of arts activities.

Gate Greeters

Welcome the public to the festival and encourage donations to support CenterFest and the arts. They will count how many people attend the festival with the help of a tally counter and hand out programs.

Soda Sales

Serve the public as they take a break and enjoy a cool drink.

Information Booth Helpers

Provide friendly assistance to people who need it and to give out literature on Durham Arts Council events, classes, etc.

T-Shirt Booth Helpers

Sell CenterFest T-shirts and other items in the t-shirt booth.

Artist Services

Help the 120 visual artists find their spots, set-up booths, trouble shoot, booth-sit during much- needed breaks and help deliver meals.

Volunteer Booth Helpers

Help orchestrate the check-in, sign-out, and assignment for volunteers, last minute trouble-shooting of the 200 diverse volunteers that make CenterFest happen. We also have special positions for people who would like to help coordinate our volunteers on each day of the festival.

Friday Set-Up Assistants

Help load-in stages, tents, and vendors for early set-up (and anything else that might be needed the day before CenterFest begins).

Arrival Assistants

Help direct artists and vendors as they arrive to set up on Saturday from 5:45am-9:45 am and Sunday 8:45-10:45. Note: Having people on Saturday is MUCH more important than for Sunday

VIP Breakfast Attendants

Help set up and serve our Patron Sponsors and other VIPs a simple breakfast of coffee and pastries from 9am to 11am, Saturday only

Performer Gate Attendants

Help check in and direct musical performers as they arrive at their special designated entry.
